“Though far from France’s famed wine regions, states like California, New York, and Virginia are offering oenophiles something to savor.”
Monica Prell, Montage Magazine
Ballard Canyon AVA and our very own Michael Larner talks to Monica Prelle in the Winter 2014 edition. In the article, which is about the “American Wine Revolution”, Michael explains what makes Ballard Canyon wines so special, and why Syrahs and other Rhone varietals have made a new home here. According to Larner, the Syrahs made from the Rhone grapes that grow so well in this AVA are rich, complex, and have acidity levels perfect for food pairing.
“[Ballard Canyon] is a vineyard-driven, soil- driven AVA,” Larner says. “It’s really about the land [and] where the wine comes from.”
